Troop VA-2907 Rocket Derby Information

Troop VA-2907 holds four campouts each year, ideally one each season.

Campout Rules:

Supervision:

All Trailmen must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is required to remain with the Trailman for the entire time. If someone other than the parent or guardian will supervise a scout, the Troop Master must be notified ahead of time who it is.

Responsibilities:

Campers are responsible for bringing camping gear. Patrols are responsible for meals, including food, drinks, plates, utensils, trash bags, and cooking gear. Each Patrol is responsible for clean-up, trash removal, and extinguishing campfires in designated areas. Leave no trace!

Safety:

No one should not run in the campsite (tent area), near a fire, or at night. Lights out is at 9:30 PM.

Alcohol, Drug, and Tobacco Policy of Trail Life USA:

Alcohol*, illegal drugs, and tobacco are not permitted at any Trail Life function or activity. (*There is an exception for alcohol where part of a recognized religious practice.)

Suggested Camping Supplies

Camping Equipment:

  • Tent, poles and stakes

  • Sleeping bag

  • Air mattress or sleeping pad

  • Waterproof ground cloth or plastic sheet (optional)

​

Clothing:

  • Trailmen uniforms (To be specified for each campout)

  • Warm jacket or coat

  • Sweatshirt and pants for sleeping

  • Durable closed-toed shoes

  • Extra clothing as desired

  • Poncho or raincoat

​

Toilet Kit:

  • Toothpaste, toothbrush

  • Washcloth, towel (optional)

  • Soap in container (optional)

​

Safety:

  • Flashlight (check the batteries)

  • Water bottle

  • Sunscreen

  • Insect repellant

  • First aid kit (optional: the pack brings a first-aid kit)

  • Whistle (optional: it is good for the Trailmen to have one with them at the “woodsier” camps)

​

Meal Supplies (coordinated with den):

  • Plastic or paper cups, plates, and utensils

  • Paper towels

  • Food for meals

  • Cooking equipment and utensils

  • Trash bags

​

Family Gear:

  • Camp or lawn chairs

  • Cooler or ice chest with extra drinks and snacks for personal use

  • Frisbees, balls, etc.
